A stroll along the C&O Canal

The flowers appear on the earth; the
time of singing has come, and the
voice of the turtledove is heard in
our land. -- (Song of Solomon 2:12)

It was a beautiful day for a stroll along the canal at C&O Canal National Historical Park.

Canadian geese and their goslings were feasting on scraps thrown to them by picnickers, and were quite bold about approaching people to beg for food by honking and opening their beaks. I was surprised to see they had pink tongues.

Turtles basked in the sun, seemingly oblivious to the thundering Potomac cascading tempestuously over the rocks nearby.

Live historical representations.
