APPLES IN FEBRUARY

"For all forest creatures are mine already, the animals
on the mountains in their thousands.  I know every bird
in the air, whatever moves in the fields is mine."
(Psalm 50:10-11)

Who would have thought to see a tree full of apples in the middle of February in my neck of the woods, but that's exactly what my friend and I came across on our walk the other day.

It was a beautiful springlike day, and we decided to explore some of the roads off our beaten track.

We stopped to take pictures so many times, I
don't think we got much aerobic benefit out of this walk, but we did enjoy the sun and our surroundings.

It was hard to decide which pictures to post, but these are some of my favorites.

TOUCH OF SPRING

"What a wildly wonderful world, GOD!
You made...earth overflow with your
wonderful creations."
(Psalm 104:24, The Message)

Last week, after a brief cold spell, and before the chill returned, we enjoyed a few days of gorgeous, springlike weather.  On one of those days my friend and I went for a photo shoot along the local trail.  The temperature was 70 degrees, and many of the trees were starting to bud.

Squirrels were everywhere, digging for buried treasure and chasing each other up and down the trees, and as we eyed them, we saw a cat eyeing us.

I took so many pictures, I had a hard time choosing which ones to post.

PINK SUNSET

"Those who live at the ends of the earth
stand in awe of your wonders. From where
the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire
shouts of joy."
(Psalm 65:8, NLT)

It was so cold and blustery and icy out today that I felt greatly relieved when I finally walked through the door into the comfort of my cozy apartment.  As I put groceries away, I thanked the Lord for protecting my car from skidding, and me from slipping or falling on the ice.

My errands had taken much longer than usual, and when I glanced out the window, I noticed pink tinged clouds.  The day was already coming to an end, and by the looks of it, with the promise of a glorious sunset.  Should I get bundled up again and try and chase it down?  It was very tempting.

I did bundle up, but my fear of slipping on the ice kept me from going out again, and I settled for these pictures taken from my balcony.  The pink clouds are really just a reflection of the actual sunset, since my windows do not face west.
