A Day Full of Happy
My daughter picked me up bright and early to go visit my granddaughter at CUA in DC.
The weather was perfect for a walk around campus and the neighborhood.
We were greeted by a curious squirrel on the way to the Basilica.
A few favorites of the many shots I took of the interior.
There were many beautiful sculptures throughout, but my favorite was this one of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus resting during their flight to Egypt.
The Crypt Church on the lower level of the Basilica.
Posing with a life-size cardboard cutout of Pope Francis.
Interesting display of American Indian artifacts, which seemed a little out of place amid all the religious displays surrounding it. We read the history on the wall, but were still unable to figure out how it related to everything else..
Even the lunchroom had beautiful stained glass windows.
A stroll along Arts Walk on Monroe Street Market.
This colorful stone bench was sooo comfortable, and check out the unintentional selfies of the two photographers, reflected in the glass pane of the window behind me.
Outside the metro station.
Lunch at Busboys and Poets, where the food was really tasty. Everything organic, and lots of vegan selections on the menu too.
Picking out a sweatshirt at the CUA Barnes and Noble.
Spotting this bird and moon after I got home was a perfect ending to a day full of happy.
