"Two people are better off than one, for they can help
each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can
reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is
in real trouble." -- (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
For those of you who've been asking me about the hows and whys of this book, it all started when two ravens flew into town the spring of 2013 and built a nest near the top of the water tower across from my balcony. Every time I'd hear them squawk, I'd drop whatever I was doing and run out with my camera. It became quite an obsession.
At first, I was happy to post my pictures on this blog, but it was when I witnessed and captured the "rescue mission" depicted in this story that the idea of turning it into a children's picture book came to me. A bit of adventure for the little ones, as well as some local lore for Loudoun County residents who might be interested in such things. It wasn't as easy to write as I thought it would be though, and took me over a year to complete.
I can hardly believe it finally came together and is now in print and available from Amazon or, locally, at Around the Block Books in Purcellville. CLICK HERE if you would like to preview it or purchase a copy.
