It ought to be commemorated as the day of
deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to
God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized
with pomp and parade, with shows, games,
sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations,
from one end of this continent to the other,
from this time forward forever more.
(John Adams)
This year's parade was different than usual. No music, horses, or historical floats like St. Pete's used to have. No Uncle Sam either.
At this point the parade came to an abrupt halt when a child fell off one of the floats and had to be transported to the hospital. Hopefully it was not a serious injury.
